Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or below-normal temperatures across much of the eastern half of the U.S., while warmer-than-normal weather will cover the northern Plains and the West. 

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal precipitation in the eastern half of the country and the Southwest should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather across large sections of the Plains and Northwest.
