U.S. broiler sets and placements have declined for a fourth consecutive week.
The numbers continue to point towards a tighter supply of available numbers in the coming weeks, which would cut into production.
The USDA says broiler-type egg sets totaled 228.556 million, slightly lower a week ago and 4% below a year ago, with an average hatchability of 80.7%, about steady with the previous week.
Placements of broiler-type chicks into the meat production pipeline were 182.806 million head, 4% under last year, with the 2023-to-date pace 1% slower than 2022.
