The ranking member of the Senate Agriculture Committee says Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack should have a greater role in the approval of foreign ag land purchases.
The nine-person Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) currently consists of the Secretaries of State, Treasury, Defense, Homeland Security, Commerce and Energy, the U.S. Attorney General, U.S. Trade Representative and Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy.
John Boozman tells Brownfield adding a spot for the agriculture secretary on CFIUS is an immediate first step to address ag land concerns.
