Harvest has wrapped up for South Central Nebraska farmer Doug Saathoff.
“The soybeans were disappointing, even the irrigated ones. We had way too much heat during pod fill. They didn’t perform like they should, and I knew that it was going to happen.”
He tells Brownfield his corn yields helped show how different the weather patterns were at critical times during plant development. “The corn was already close to black-layer, and when that intense heat hit the beans were still filling pods.
