In 2022 highly pathogenic avian influenza hit the poultry and egg industry very hard.  And it had a big impact on consumers’ weekly grocery bills.

While the virus doesn’t impact human health can spread rapidly among many avian and poultry species.  Research has found that of all the domestic poultry, turkey is the most susceptible to the virus.

Dr. Meghan Schaeffer is an epidemiologist.
