A Pacific storm system moving inland across the Northwest will move generally eastward near the U.S.-Canadian border, reaching southeastern Canada late in the week. The storm’s trailing cold front will become more active during the second half of the week, with locally heavy rain developing in the western Gulf Coast region. Meanwhile, the Southeast will receive much-needed rain, albeit light. Many other parts of the country, including large sections of the Plains, western Corn Belt, and Southwest, will remain dry during the next 5 days. Elsewhere, the next Pacific storm to reach the Northwest should arrive late Thursday or early Friday.
