Pacific storminess will remain largely offshore early in the week.  During the mid- to late-week period, however, precipitation should increase across California, especially in coastal locations.  In contrast, the remainder of the West (east of the Pacific Coast States), as well as the Plains and western Corn Belt, will experience mostly dry weather during the next 5 days.  Farther south, locally heavy rain will drift eastward along and near the Gulf Coast, with 5-day rainfall totals expected to generally range from 1 to 5 inches from coastal Texas to Florida and southern Georgia.
