The storm complex pushing eastward from the Intermountain West will generate a wintry mix of precipitation from the central Plains southward to the Gulf Coast over the next few days. Three-day precipitation totals of ¼ to 1 inch are forecast for drought-afflicted locations in Louisiana and Mississippi. Precipitation will continue to push eastward through the weekend, reaching the Southeast and Midwest by Monday. The frontal passage will usher cooler air into the nation’s midsection, although nighttime lows are not expected to reach the critical threshold for damage to overwintering wheat.
