Another case of highly pathogenic avian influenza has been confirmed in Iowa.

The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship says the disease was found in a flock of commercial layer chickens in Sioux (sue) County. Fifteen cases of HPAI have been confirmed in the state since October.

State Ag Secretary Mike Naig says if producers suspect signs of HPAI in their flocks, they should contact their veterinarian immediately.

According to IDALS, HPAI can travel in wild birds without those birds appearing sick, but is often fatal to domestic bird populations, including chickens and turkeys.
