A more active weather pattern is developing across the continental U.S., and in particular across the South and Northwest. The Northwestern storminess will persist for several days, leading to 5-day precipitation totals that could reach 5 to 10 inches or more from the northern Pacific Coast to the Cascades. Varying amounts of rain and high-elevation snow will extend inland across the northern Rockies and as far south as northern sections of California and the Great Basin.
