At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live and feeder cattle were up waiting for direct trade to pick up in the South. February live cattle closed $1.42 higher at $169.35 and April lives closed $1.27 higher at $172.85. January feeder cattle closed $1.55 higher at $220.90 and March feeder cattle closed $2.05 higher at $222.17.
It took nearly the entire week for direct cash cattle trade to develop up in the South. Live deals on Friday were at $170, about $1 lower than the prior week’s weighted averages.
