A developing storm system over the Southwest will drift eastward, delivering widespread precipitation from the Four Corners region into the southern and eastern U.S.  Snow associated with that storm will fall Friday from higher elevations of the Southwest to portions of the central and southern Plains, with a second area of snow developing during the weekend from the central Appalachians into the Northeast.  Meanwhile, heavy showers and locally severe thunderstorms should occur along and near the Gulf Coast.
