South Dakota Farm Bureau State Public Policy Director Matthew Bogue says private property rights are expected to get attention in South Dakota’s state legislative session.
“The carbon pipeline discussion has been huge in South Dakota this past year, especially with the Summit Carbon Pipeline moving forward,” says Bogue. “There will be efforts to limit the use of eminent domain for carbon dioxide pipelines and discussions about surveying.”
Bogue says the South Dakota Farm Bureau is supportive of the current permitting standards at the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission and would like to see increased communication on projects.
