A storm system arriving along the West Coast will affect the Pacific Coast States through Thursday before turning eastward and crossing the Southwest.  Precipitation (rain and possibly wet snow) will affect the central and southern Plains late in the week, followed by showers and thunderstorms in the Gulf Coast States during the weekend.  A trailing storm system should reach California by Sunday.  Five-day precipitation totals could reach 4 to 8 inches in coastal and mountainous areas of California, with light to moderately heavy amounts extending eastward to the Rockies and High Plains.
