Milk futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange started the week with strong trader optimism despite a lack of cash trade activity.

February Class III milk was up eight cents at $16.35. March 39 cents higher at $17.77. April up 31 cents at $18.01. May 22 cents higher at $18.15. June through August contracts unchanged to 16 cents higher.

Dry whey unchanged at $0.5075.

Blocks unchanged at $1.65.

Barrels up $0.04 at $1.59.
