Another quiet start for direct cash cattle trade activity. Bids and asking prices have yet to surface. There were a handful of deals reported on Monday in parts of Iowa at $286 dressed, but that isn’t near enough activity to establish an accurate price trend. Look for significant trade volume to hold out until midweek or later.
Boxed beef is lower at midday on light demand for moderate offerings. Choice is $.83 lower at $293.25 and Select is $.07 lower at $286.95. The Choice/Select spread is $6.30.
