The USDA says February 2024 was one of the warmest Februarys on record in Kentucky.

The average statewide temperature was eight degrees above normal and despite scattered, below average precipitation, the state is off the Drought Monitor, largely thanks to a wet January.

Just over half of the state has adequate to surplus hay on hand with reports of increased hay purchases and even herd liquidation in response to those tighter supplies.
