An ag lobbyist says he’s optimistic Congress can pass a bipartisan appropriations package, funding the USDA and five other agencies for the 2024 fiscal year, by Friday’s deadline and avoid a partial government shutdown.
Randy Russell with the Russell Group tells Brownfield the funding package will be voted on in the U.S. House first.
“I don’t think the House will vote until sometime Wednesday or even Thursday.”
And then, the Senate will vote before going to President Joe Biden for a signature.
