The governor of one of eight Midwest states that petitioned EPA to allow the sale of E15 year-round says he’s grateful the rule has been announced but is disappointed it won’t go into effect until 2025.

Tim Walz of Minnesota tells Brownfield he’s hopeful an emergency waiver will be issued for this summer.

“It is a step forward, we’re glad of that. I don’t want to be too pessimistic, but I kind of was hoping we’d get this thing kicked in for this right away, but we’ll keep working at it.”

He says when governors speak with a unified voice, it makes a difference.
