Largely dry weather will cover the country, except from northern California and the Pacific Northwest to the northern Rockies. By mid-week, however, Northwestern precipitation will shift eastward, covering areas from the Intermountain West into the Midwest. Snow will blanket higher elevations of the West, as well as portions of the central High Plains. During the mid- to late-week period, some severe thunderstorms may develop, especially from Thursday afternoon into Friday from the southeastern Plains into the mid-South.
