Milk futures were higher except in March and May, and the cash dairy markets were steady to higher Thursday on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. 

March Class III milk was down $0.05 at $16.47.  April was up $0.06 at $16.25.  May was down $0.01 at $16.76.  June was up $0.05 at $17.56.  

July through January contracts ranged from five cents higher in July and October to nineteen cents higher in December.  Thursday’s Class III trade volume was higher, with 2,175 contracts. 

Dry whey was up $0.01 at $0.44.  No sales were recorded.  

The unusual trend of cheese barrels selling higher than blocks began February 9th but appears to be over as blocks once again have more value. 

Forty-pound cheese blocks were up $0.0375 at $1.4725.  Four sales were recorded, ranging from $1.4450 to $1.47. 

Cheese barrels were up $0.0025 at $1.4325.  Three sales were recorded, ranging from $1.43 to $1.44. 

Butter was up $0.0075 at $2.8475.  Four sales were recorded, ranging from $2.84 to $2.8475. 

Nonfat dry milk was unchanged at $1.1625.   Nine sales were recorded, ranging from $1.1625 to $1.17.
