A farmer from eastern Missouri says extra care is being taken to prepare hay and pasture ground ahead of the upcoming growing season.

Erica Schwoeppe says spring fertilizer has been applied.

“We have to make sure to keep the soil health so we hopefully, get grass all summer provided there’s enough rain.”

She says dry conditions have caused hay shortages near her farm over the last year and they’re still trying to catch up for the cattle.
