Broiler sets and placements were mixed last week.
The USDA says 243.926 million broiler-type eggs entered incubators, a drop of 1.437 million on the week, but still up 1% on the year, eventually moving to meat production later this month.
Average hatchability held just under 79%.
187.368 million chicks were placed into meat production, 909,000 lower than the previous week, but slightly higher than a year ago, with those birds bound for market starting in May.
