Direct cash cattle trade activity has been slow to develop on this Friday. Bids have resurfaced in the South at $182 to $184 live. Those are still well below current asking prices. A light trade developed over a couple of days this week. Dressed deals were marked at $295 to $298, mostly $297 to $298. A couple of dollars lower than the prior week’s weighted averages.
Boxed beef is mixed at midday with fairly light demand for solid offerings. Choice is $.01 higher at $297.16 and Select is $.94 lower at $295.11. The Choice/Select spread is $2.05.
At the Valentine Livestock Auction in Nebraska, steers were sharply lower.
