Early this week, heavy rain will erupt from the southeastern Plains to the Mississippi Delta, with totals of 2 to 4 inches or more possible. Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of warmer-than-normal weather nationwide, except for near- or below-normal temperatures in the south-central U.S. Meanwhile, wetter-than-normal conditions in southern sections of the Rockies and Plains, as well as the South, East, and lower Midwest, should contrast with near- or below-normal precipitation in the West, northern and central Plains, and upper Midwest.
