The University of Wisconsin’s Extension Dairy Program has a new resource for dairy farmers with questions about highly pathogenic avian influenza in cows.
The dairy team says farmers and the industry should prioritize strategies aimed at prevention, early detection, biosecurity, and effective management to mitigate the spread of this disease.
The new website has links to a factsheet, a checklist to help producers protect their herds, and links to recommendations about animal health and biosecurity from the National Milk Producers Federation, the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, and the Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.
