A technical agronomist based in central Indiana says the wet spring has prevented many farmers in his area from getting a good start on planting.

David Cosgray with DEKALB/Asgrow says progress has been sporadic, at best. “You can look around and find a few planters knocking an 80 or a 40-acre field out,” he says.  “Something where they can find some good soil conditions and get things started and make sure all the kinks are worked out of the planner.”

He tells Brownfield the rains were needed.
