A low-pressure system currently crossing the upper Mississippi Valley will drift northeastward and weaken. However, additional unsettled weather emerging from the western U.S. will maintain stormy weather across the nation’s midsection. Notably, a storm system should arrive on the central Plains around mid-week, with the storm’s trailing cold front sweeping across the Mississippi Valley on Friday and into the East by Saturday. Severe thunderstorms, including damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes, will remain a threat, mainly from the Plains into the Mississippi Valley.
