A climatologist says rains continue to pick up steam across the Midwest.

“It’s been particularly wet with a very active storm track,” said Justin Glisan, state climatologist for the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.

Glisan says a wetter than expected spring has caused some planting delays, but it’s been critical for soil conditions. “This is when we need moisture to resupply soil moisture profiles,” he said. “Farmers will get the window and will get out and get planted.
