A crop specialist says implementing a defensive nitrogen management program can help fill gaps throughout the growing season.

“Anytime we split-apply nitrogen and give it to the plant throughout the season, that’s a good program,” said Mark Christianson with Helena.

Christianson tells Brownfield split applications of nitrogen can easily be integrated into foliar applications to mitigate loss and risk. “The nature of it is it stays wet on the leaf, which helps herbicides,” he said.
