A cold front will spark briefly heavy showers and locally severe thunderstorms from the upper Midwest southward across the southeastern Plains and the Mississippi Delta. Subsequently, the front will sweep into the eastern U.S. on Wednesday and Thursday while weakening. Event-total rainfall should reach 1 to 3 inches in scattered locations across the eastern half of the country. In the front’s wake, cool, breezy weather and scattered showers will linger for several days in the Great Lakes and Northeastern States.
