Cash cattle country remains quiet on Wednesday with asking prices around $305 to $306 in the North, but not established in the South. Bids remain very hard to find. Packer inquiry could improve as the day progresses, but significant trade volume is likely to be delayed until Thursday or later.
Boxed beef cutout values were lower at midday with Choice down $1.81 at $315.07 and Select down $1.89 at $302.58. The Choice/Select spread was $12.49.
