A crop and livestock farmer in southeast Missouri says good hay production is a benefit of the recent rains, along with a reduction in drought conditions.

Jeff Reed tells Brownfield “the pastures look really good right now. We’re optimistic to have a good run this summer.”

Reed says conditions are warming up as the summer progresses, but he’s optimistic for steady rains to continue.

The U.S. Drought Monitor says Wayne County is not experiencing drought conditions, but neighboring counties are abnormally dry.
