YSS is a much larger organization than what County Director David Hicks and his team handles in Marshall County. Their headquarters is out of Ames and they cover a huge area in Central Iowa. YSS is gearing up to open a new facility in Cambridge called Embers.

Hicks says the state gave YSS close to $4 million for this project. He says the real beauty in the project is working with the 18 – 24 year old individuals.

He feels that giving them a skill to land a job can also create a sense of drive and purpose for the individual.
