It was the season opener for the Bobcat boys soccer team Thursday night as they headed south to take on the Newton Cardinals to kick off the 2025 campaign.
It was a slow and steady press from the Bobcat attack all night. Joel Ortiz got the scoring going in the first half as he rifled a shot from the edge of the box, finding the top right corner and putting the cats up front 1-0. The steady press was maintained by the Cats through a physical and chippy second half. Aaron Ordaz Zambrano and Rafa Ortiz found goals just a minute apart with less than 15 minutes remaining to seemingly put the game away, and then for good measure Armando Estrada won a penalty kick with just over a minute remaining and buried his attempt top shelf above the keeper to secure the 4-0 win. The Bobcat boys will be back in action this weekend as they host the Bobcat Soccer Invite this Saturday.
