It was a cold start not only off the field, but on the field as well for the Bobcat girls Tuesday night as they took on Roosevelt. The Rough Riders held the possession of the ball, but the Cats’ defense stood strong until a long free kick by Ziva Spellman made it 1-0 Roosevelt. They’d tack on a second goal not long after as Spellman found Sabine Carlson in the box to double up the lead. McKenna Coleman and the Cats wouldn’t go into the half quietly, though, as she found a pair of goals within two minutes of each other to equalize the score, 2-2, at halftime. The second half was more of the same from Spellman and the Rough Riders as they continued to press forward asking the most of Bobcat keeper Sophia Valdez. While she and the defense did their best, Carlson broke through late as she found the back of the net for her second goal of the evening leading to a 3-2 Roughriders victory. The Cats fall to 2-2 on the year and will look to rebound on Thursday when they head back on the road to take on Des Moines Lincoln.
