Marshall County has sirens across the county to help warn people who are outside of inclement weather. Marshall County Emergency Management Coordinator, Kim Elder, talks about when the sirens would sound.
She goes on to say that the sirens would go off for a tornado warning or a test
If for some reason you do not hear the sirens go off for the tests at 9am, look around at the weather.
Elder says that 34 degrees cut off is due to gears inside of the sirens. They could break if there is any type of ice buildup. She says it is manufacturer recommendation to not test at 34 degrees and colder.
