Last night at the Marshalltown City Council meeting, one discussion item was over storm water pipes needing to be replaced during the Franklin Field project. These storm water pipes are over 100 years old and they are shallow, so this would proposal would put in a new and larger pipe. City Administrator, Carol Webb, first lays out the proposal.

The conversation is about splitting the costs 50/50 with the School District.  A citizen asked why this project would happen when there are other places in town where the infrastructure is also over 100 years old.

Superintendent of the Marshalltown Community School District was at the meeting last night, Dr. Theron Schutte. He gives a little history lesson on Franklin Field.

Mayor Joel Greer also mentioned some unique history with Franklin Field.
