The Drake Relays are happening this week down in Des Moines. Tuesday night is the Grand Blue Mile and a Marshalltown High School Graduate, Todd Eipperle, was a participant. He says the Grand Blue Mile is an incredible experience.

Blake Bolden, Drake Relays Director, was expecting the Road Mile Record to be broken this week as well as the mile record in Drake stadium. Saturday at the Drake Road Races, Eipperle ran a 5k, which he tries to do once a month, and for the 60 – 64 age division, Eipperle was the fastest.

Eipperle, who now lives in Ankeny, said his daughter was a big runner growing up and still has records at GMG High School. He now enjoys watching his grand daughter run, who is an 8th grader. Eipperle enjoys completing goals, and has a goal to run a 5k every month, and that is what keeps him going.
