Yesterday, Marshall County found Trequan Cosgrove guilty of Involuntary Manslaughter, Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death, and Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm. This stems from the death of Ezra Seymour, who was struck by a vehicle back on August 31st, 2024.

Seymour had entered Cosgrove’s residence during a party and would not leave when asked. Once Seymour was escorted out of the house, Cosgrove then ran him down with his Cadillac. Cosgrove hid the car in his garage. After the Marshalltown Police Department searched the home, they found Seymour’s hair on the Cadillac. Cosgrove was found not guilty of 1st and 2nd degree murder, but guilty on involuntary manslaughter.

Marshall County Attorney, Jordan Gaffney, released a statement, “I am proud of and thankful for the effort and dedication put into the investigation and prosecution by the Marshalltown Police Department, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Iowa Attorney General’s Office, and our team at the Marshall County Attorney’s Office”

Sentencing is scheduled for June
