Anthony Ivan Garcia, 22

The Marshalltown Police Department made an arrest yesterday following an investigation into two separate fires. The investigation began back on October 24th when a suspicious fire was started at the Super 8 in Marshalltown. There was a suspect identified at the time.

Then on February 26th of this year, a suspicious fire was started at 402 Union St. in Marshalltown. The same suspect was identified in the Union St. fire as the Super 8 fire.

Thursday, May 8th, the Marshalltown Police Department arrested Anthony Ivan Garcia, age 22, of Marshalltown. He has been charged with 2 counts of Arson in the 1st degree, a Class “B” felony.
