Austin Gillis, the executive director at the Animal Rescue League of Marshalltown was on Central Iowa Today yesterday. It was quite the busy day for Gillis as they were in the midst of safely handling some stray dogs.
Gillis says the ARL is at a ‘Crisis Capacity Level’ and he explained what that entails.
With the weather getting warmer and nicer, Gillis encourages everyone to come out and meet a new friend.
Gillis says anyone interested in adopting from the ARL can visit them and fill out a free application. After that, they’ll have a ‘meet and greet’ with you and any other animals in the home, and following that, you can take home your new furry friend after paying a fee. He says their adult cats and kittens are $50, puppies under 6 months are $200, dogs over 6 months are $175, and any dogs over 5 years old are $75. Gillis says these prices are cheaper than most anywhere else you can find, and he says that the summer is the purr-fect time to help an animal find their forever home.
