Temperatures are warming up and people are spending more time outside, especially at night. With the warmer weather, recreational fires are more common. Marshalltown Fire Chief, Christopher Cross, shares some tips so people are in compliance with the city ordinance.
He says that there are times people need to be aware of, like that all recreation fires need to be extinguished by 2am. Chief Cross says he is happy that rain has come and greened up some of the vegetation. That has led to a so far quiet open burn period.
Open Burn will officially end at the end of June and there will be another period in the fall. Learn more about the rules around recreational fires and open burn online at Marshalltown-ia.gov
