Wednesday night around 7:50, the Marshalltown Police Department responded to a call about a robbery that occurred in the 600 block of W. Main St. The victim reported that they had been assaulted and their vehicle was stolen. The suspect tried to run the victim over with the stolen vehicle, but the victim was able to get out of the way sustaining minor injuries.
While fleeing, the vehicle was then spotted on the FLOCK cameras around town and notifications were sent to officers to locate the vehicle. The driver fled out of town and the Marshalltown Police Department got assistance from the Marshall County Sheriffs Office. The pursuit took officers south out of Marshalltown, into Ferguson, and back into Marshalltown. Officers deployed stop sticks, or tire deflating devices, as the vehicle entered Marshalltown again. Eventually the car crashed into the Calvin Rockett parking lot at Center Street and Westwood intersection.
The driver was arrested and charged with multiple felonies, he was identified as 33 year old, Antonio Lizarde, from Marshalltown. He has been charged with 1st degree Robbery, Attempted Murder, Eluding, which are all felonies and also Driving while Barred, OWI, and Interference with Official Acts causing injury, which are all misdemeanors.
