The Marshalltown Emergency Food Box is stepping up this summer and participating in the Governors Healthy Kids Iowa program.  Low-Income Families no longer are getting $40/month put onto a SNAP EBT card for food.  Instead, families will need to stop by a participating food bank to get $40 worth of food per month.  The Marshalltown Emergency Food Box is the main location in Marshall County for people to pick up food.  They will be getting food for 1,000 youth each month on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays.

That is Cindy Staron a volunteer with the Marshalltown Emergency Food Box.  She says that those blocks on Wednesday and Thursday are 10am – 1pm, 1pm – 4pm, and 4pm – 7pm and the food truck should arrive Tuesday afternoon.  She says they are looking for at least 4 volunteers for each distribution shift.

Staron says people can volunteer to help by reaching out to her and her team.  People can send a direct message to the Emergency Food Box Facebook page or send an email to EFBMtown@gmail.com.
