Morgan Weigelt was found guilty by a Marshall County jury on Friday for Homicide by Vehicle – reckless driving. This stems from an incident back in May of 2023 when Weigelt, who was driving on highway 330, rear ended a tractor driven by Clarence Borton, who died from the accident.
According to law enforcement, Weigelt was on her cell phone searching for car parts when the accident happened. Last week, the 24-year-old Weigelt testified she was not on her phone while driving.
Weigelt was found guilty by a jury on Friday, Homicide by Vehicle -reckless driving is a Class C felony and carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. Weigelt will be sentence on July 14th.
