Lynne Carroll, Executive Director for Heart of Iowa Big Brothers Big Sisters, spoke at the Marshalltown School Board meeting last night.  She talked about the School Based program with the Marshalltown Community School District.

Carroll had data from surveys with teachers.  The surveys had teachers thinking about the students who are paired with a big.

Learning a new skill and joining a club will help that student become more social with their own peers and maybe create a new connection with another student.  Carroll also surveyed the littles.

Data shows that the students enjoy having a big and are more likely to attend school the day they have a meeting with their big.  Carroll shares her gratitude with the School Board as this is her final presentation before she retires at the end of July.
