The beginning of the Marshalltown Community School Board meetings always has recognitions and on Monday, two students were recognized because they won a National Championship.

That is Superintendent of Marshalltown Schools, Dr. Theron Schutte.  Benscoter and Seberger competed against top student historians from across the country, showcasing not only academic excellence but also a deep commitment to understanding and communicating complex historical topics.

National History Day is a nonprofit education program that engages over half a million middle and high school students around the world annually in conducting original research on historical topics of interest. The yearlong program culminates in a national contest each June at the University of Maryland.
