According to Trails Inc. President and Marshalltown City Councilor, Jeff Schneider, there are 8 bridges along the Iowa River Bike Trail that need to be replaced.  Schneider says they are looking to replace the bridges in phases, and the first phase will include four bridges.

Schneider said this item would be on the next city council agenda, and it is part of the consent agenda.  The city will be spending $180,000 for this first phase.

The next phase is up to Trails Inc and those leaders to find the money, says Schneider.

Schneider had asked the County for $1 million to help paved the bike trail from Marshalltown City Limits to Albian.  The total cost of the project would be around $5.7 million.
