The Marshalltown Bobcat Softball team heads to Southeast Polk tonight where they’ll take on the 3rd-ranked Rams in the Class 5A Region 6 Semifinal. The Cats will ride into the game on quite a hot streak, winners of 4 in a row and 9 of their last 11. As for the Rams, they come in at an astounding 29-10 overall record, including split series with Centennial, Ankeny, Valley, and most recently #1 ranked Waukee Northwest. It will be a tough task for the Bobcats as they look to extend their season tonight at 7pm.

As for Bobcat baseball, they were supposed to take on the Ankeny Centennial Jaguars yesterday in the Class 4A Substate 7 quarterfinals, but mother nature stepped in and made sure it was not to be. The Game got rescheduled for two different times yesterday, but the weather held on long enough to force the postponement until later today at 4pm. It’s been a tumultuous season for the Cats, winners of just 6 games so far, while the Jaguars post a 23-13 overall record. The Bobcats will need their A-game and then some if they are to pull the upset. You can catch all the action for both the baseball and softball teams as the KFJB-TV crew will be following the doubleheader live on Facebook and YouTube, while the softball nightcap will also be aired right here on 1230 AM and 93.9 FM with Voice of the Bobcats Brandon Lewis as well as everyone’s favorite Dylan Does are on the call.

Plenty of other local schools will hit the diamond for postseason action as Grundy Center takes on North Fayette Valley, North Tama battles North Linn, and Grinnell tackles Solon all in baseball, while East Marshall dukes it out with Ogden, BCLUW battles Ankeny Christian, West Marshall duels Chariton, and Grinnell and Gilbert start a battle of the Gs to extend their seasons on the softball diamond.
